UKAS 2026 Overview

Welcome to Bristol for the UK Archaeological Sciences (UKAS) Conference 2026! The UKAS conference is a biennial event that brings together researchers from a wide range of disciplines to discuss the latest developments in archaeological science. This year it is being hosted by the University of Bristol across three schools: Chemistry, Anthropology and Archaeology, and Earth Sciences. We are excited to welcome archaeologists and scientists from across the globe to our vibrant city for a stimulating exchange of ideas and research.

Venue

UKAS 2026 will primarily be held at the University of Bristol Clifton Campus Arts Complex (entrance on 7 Woodland Road) in Lecture Theatre B.H05 and surrounding foyer and exhibition spaces.

The venue and lecture theatre are both fully accessible.

The keynote lecture from Professor Richard Evershed will take place on evening of 30th March at the University of Bristol School of Chemistry, in Lecture Theatre 1. The venue and lecture theatre are both fully accessible.

The entrance to the School of Chemistry can be tricky to find. Google Maps will try to take you to the South-East entrance, which requires card access. We recommend you follow the routes below to the main entrance to the School, or follow Google Maps’ directions to the Palm Temple sculpture, which is just outside the main entrance.

Childcare

Unfortunately, UKAS will not be able to provide childcare at the venue.

However the Events team would recommend the Clifton College Holiday Club, located very close to the venue. Please get in touch directly with the Clifton College Holiday Club | Bristol Activity Courses to secure your place.

Abstract submission

We invite the submission of abstracts for short oral and poster presentations on a range of topics in archaeological science, including but not limited to:

  • paleodiet and subsistence,

  • mobility and migration,

  • provenance and exchange,

  • human–environment interactions.

We particularly welcome submissions from students and early career researchers.

Abstract submission is now closed.

Registration in person is now closed.

Virtual registration is still open.
